Pearl Abyss, the publisher and developer of Crimson Desert, has announced that the open-world action RPG has now sold more than four million copies worldwide. “Crimson Desert has sold through 4 million copies worldwide. Thank you to all the Greymanes who have been a part of this journey with us and for all of your incredible love and support,” the South Korean company said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The four million sales milestone was reached less than two weeks after the game launched on March 19. The announcement also comes as Pearl Abyss closes the first quarter of its 2026 fiscal year. Unlike many other companies in the gaming industry, the South Korean studio, which has been losing money for the past three years, closes its fiscal year on December 31.

This updated figure means that Crimson Desert sold another one million copies in the last week alone. On March 20, just one day after release, it had already reached two million copies. By March 24, Pearl Abyss confirmed that sales had climbed to three million units.
The game continues to grow in popularity, and it has rapidly become one of the most talked-about titles of 2026 so far. Its momentum is also strong on Steam. Last Sunday, March 29, the game reached a new peak of more than 270,000 concurrent players.
It is also worth noting that the game had a rough launch. Some players noticed that it included AI-generated 2D art assets, which quickly led to criticism from the community, whilst the developers removed those assets shortly after. At the same time, the game had mixed ratings on Steam. However, after several major updates, the studio was able to address many of the early problems. As a result, the game now seems to be recovering with audiences, with its strong sales even helping raise the company’s share price.
