Beast of Reincarnation brings a new original world from the developers of Pokémon, Game Freak. It is not their typical creature-catching game; it takes inspiration from other genres, such as soulslike combat, open-world exploration, RPG elements, and a more cinematic story. With all these elements comes a bit of difficulty, and since this is not your standard Game Freak experience, here are some tips that can help you on your journey with Emma and Koo.
Parry It!

Yes, parrying is very important in several soulslike games, even more important in Beast of Reincarnation. Parrying is what fills both Emma and Koo’s power gauge, which will allow you to use special abilities with both. While most enemies have big openings that warn you of the upcoming attack, some are faster than others. So, if the parrying is getting too difficult, you can always switch to a lower difficulty and practice that timing. There are no penalties or achievement consequences for switching difficulties.
With Great Power, Comes A Great Reset

Beast of Reincarnation includes two literal skill trees, one for Emma and one for Koo. These trees are full of powers and abilities that add new gameplay features. As the story progresses and more bosses are defeated, these trees will continue expanding even more. While the amount of abilities might seem overwhelming, thankfully you can reset these trees and get your points back. Later in the story, you will meet Mikoto, who you can call from the Walker’s phone and ask for an Attributes Reset.
Keep Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’

Players with soulslike experience likely know the importance of rolling. Dashing and rolling offer an easier way to evade enemy attacks, while also getting some distance to recover. Beast of Reincarnation offers a dash by default, but in Emma’s skill tree you can find a proper roll. Under the Tracking Shot section in the tree, you can acquire the Roll ability for 30 skill points. Beware, however, that dashing and rolling don’t regenerate the character’s power gauge as parrying does.
1UP

Tired of getting defeated by Bosses when their HP is low? Worry no more. Later in the game, you will find an item that allows Koo to revive Emma: the Resurrection Censer. You can find this revive item in some lockboxes, such as one in the Fuji Frontier Zone near the statue in the Chamber of the Great Buddha Elite Enemy. To restore this ability, you will need an Incense Stick and Life Fruit, and you can buy the recipe from Wandering Merchants to automatically refill the ability each time you rest.
Strong Is Indeed Beautiful

Emma’s connection with the Blight allows her to use her unique hair/tree roots extensions, which are one of the most dynamic features of the game, allowing you to extend the hair to traverse the environment and reach far structures. However, the hair is useful in combat as well. Extending the hair directly at an enemy deals up to 51.2 damage when fully upgraded. You can also jump onto the other side of the extension to evade or attack from that area. There are abilities tied to this movement option, and also to the vertical extension, which allows you to hit other abilities from the air.
Say A Prayer

Even if you don’t pray in real life, you might still want to in Beast of Reincarnation. Discovering shrines unlocks more of the stimpacks that Emma uses for a quick HP recovery. There are a total of 40, with every 10 unlocking a stimpack. While the default number of stimpacks might seem comfortable at first, you will need the extra ones when those boss fights get more difficult with second stages.
Don’t Forget About The Walker

In Beast of Reincarnation, the Cleanse Walker works as Emma and Koo’s mobile home base. There, they can wash away the blood and dirt after a day of exploration and combat. Other Walker features include resting, special conversations with the secondary characters, cooking, and eating. Eating new food recipes will improve Emma and Koo stats permanently. Make sure to upgrade the Walker as much as possible to unlock more space for the recipe ingredients and new weapon upgrades that are tied to the Walker’s level. The Walker levels up when you bring the Robotic Brains that are found in the open zones. These can also be found by Koo with his Detect Hidden Item ability, under the Pounce section in the skill tree.
Exploration Is King

Unless you are doing a Story Mode playthrough, you will need to explore the open zones Beast of Reincarnation has to offer to gain XP. The more you explore, the easier all these previous tips will be to achieve. Make sure that you have Koo by your side when exploring since he will mark all the items and collectibles. There is a section of the game where Emma will be alone; don’t waste your time exploring without Koo’s radar of a nose. Wait for her to reunite with Koo and go back to the areas later. Thankfully, the game allows you to travel back into previous zones so that you can complete any unfinished business.
Extra Tip: Don’t Look Up

Don’t look into the sky. Seriously, don’t. But now you are curious, right? Well, take a peek at the most. You don’t want to stare for too long, trust me.
