A very unusual game has appeared on Steam. Congratulations On Your Purchase costs $999.99, but instead of offering hours of gameplay, it gives buyers a short experience built around celebrating the fact that they spent that much money, making it one of the platform’s most unusual releases so far.
Created by Minimum Viable Prestige and published by Worth It Studio, Congratulations On Your Purchase lasts around 10 minutes and offers almost no gameplay. Players walk through a luxury palace, move along a red carpet surrounded by flashing camera effects intended to recreate the feeling of being followed by paparazzi. At the end of the journey, players sign their name on a digital wall. The final reward is that their name remains permanently engraved on that wall for future buyers to see.

Commenting on the price, the developers said that the $999.99 price “is not a mistake. It is the point,” adding that the game is made specifically for people who believe “prestige has a price.” The Steam page also claims that asking whether the game is worth $999.99 is, “philosophically speaking, unanswerable.”
It’s worth noting that Congratulations On Your Purchase includes only one achievement, “You are now one of us,” which is unlocked simply by owning and launching the game. It also proudly advertises that it has no combat, enemies, quests, skill trees, or loot boxes.
Unsurprisingly, the game has not found much of an audience, with tracking data from SteamDB showing an all-time peak of just one concurrent player, which suggests it may have only been the developer testing the game. Whether Congratulations On Your Purchase is a joke or a social experiment, it has attracted far more attention for its $999.99 price tag than for the experience itself.
