We’re one day away from The Game Awards, set to stream live around the world tomorrow on December 11. As we get ever closer to the anticipated event, we’re bound to see more gaming communities getting excited that their favorite franchise might get a new announcement – but Final Fantasy fans may have reason to anticipate something. As noticed by GamerTifa over on X, the Square Enix YouTube channel has just updated its Final Fantasy playlist with a new video that’s currently set to private… Intriguing.
Initially, there were two private videos added to the playlist, but this has since been reduced to just one. What this could be is anyone’s guess, and we’re not looking to peddle any theories, because honestly we don’t know. However, it’s still worth mentioning that Final Fantasy VII Remake project’s third game was recently discussed in an interview, with project director Naoki Hamaguchi confirming that the game will receive a name this year. There’s also long been rumor of a Final Fantasy IX remake by many gaming insiders, and the ongoing and hugely successful Final Fantasy XIV which is still actively being updated. But again, no crazy theories here!

Whatever it turns out to be – if anything at all – we’ll be sure to report on as it comes. For Final Fantasy fans there seems to always be something new to look forward to, so even if The Game Awards doesn’t have anything this time, there will be more news next year. They certainly have it easier than Kingdom Hearts fans right now, but that’s a topic for another day.
