Solarpunk is a survival-crafting game where you have to build on floating islands. As you progress, you’ll be able to build airships that can take you from one floating island to another. However, surviving in this world will require careful management of resources, and that’s where these beginner tips will help you get up to speed.
Set Up Farming Plots As Soon As Possible
As soon as you start the game, you’ll have to do some tutorial missions. While you’re doing all that, it’s best to find a good place by a pond of water to start farming. Most crops don’t regrow on the island, but you’ll always harvest a couple of seeds alongside the plants.
You can use these seeds to plant the crops on your farming plots. This will give you a stable supply of crops and seeds. This is especially useful with Cotton, as you’ll need a ton of it as you progress to make clothes and other resources.
To start farming, you’ll need to build a hoe. Use it to turn the land into a farming-ready plot. After that, you’ll have to plant the seeds. You’ll also have to water plants with a watering can, which can also be crafted at a crafting table. Use the water from the pond to water the farming plots, and you’ll have a steady farm of your own. The frequent rain also helps in keeping your plants moisturized.

Bee Hives Are Important
For many tasks, you’ll need fuel. In most cases during the early game, wood and sticks can suffice for your fuel needs. However, as the game progresses, the demand for fuel will increase. In those cases, having beeswax will allow you to craft wax briquettes, which are an extremely efficient fuel source.
You can obtain beeswax periodically from bee hives, which can be unlocked from the research table as you progress. All you have to do is set up a beehive, and the bees will start producing beeswax, which can then be turned into wax briquettes.

Don’t Forget To Replant Trees
While you’re already replanting small plants in your farming plots, cutting down trees with an axe will allow you to obtain a sapling for the type of tree that you’ve just cut down.
Now, you’ll have to find a suitable spot to replant the sapling, so it can grow into a tree in a few days. If you don’t do so, you’re at risk of running out of trees to cut down. This will drastically reduce your wood production speed.
It’s best to replant all the trees after you’ve cut them down for wood, so they can grow again in a few days, and you can get a stable supply of wood for all your building and crafting.

You Can Build Structures To Reach Difficult Terrain
Some parts of the terrain on the islands can be difficult to reach initially. The jump height is quite low, so it’s nearly impossible to reach some places early on. However, you can craft a hammer at the crafting table.
You can use the hammer to build stairs, which can help you easily reach places that were inaccessible before. You’ll have to craft a hammer anyway to build your home to place a bed inside of it by following the tutorial tips.
Doing so will unlock more resources that were on those unreachable parts of the terrain on the island, and you can continue to grow steadily as you work towards building your own ships.

That would be all for Solarpunk‘s Beginner Tips. If you’re looking for more guides and news, don’t forget to check back at GameObserver for the latest and greatest in the industry.
