Wholesome Direct 2026 featured a new trailer for Planet Zoo 2, which showed a deeper view into the gameplay. It also confirmed that the Grey Wolf will be among the roster of animals in the game. The preview also reiterated the addition of aviary and aquatic animals for the first time in the series. Mel Cox, the Video Artist, and India Jones, Lead Character Artist, spoke about what to expect from the new entry.
The developers claim that the Grey Wolf will feature authentic responses. They also show how the animal is reacting to props around itself. You can throw a ball towards it, and the wolf will notice it. It also shows enrichment items for the animal to have fun with. You can see the wolves feeding on meat and playing with a bubble device. Since the larger wolf seems to have cubs, it seems that, similar to its predecessor, Planet Zoo 2 will have breeding as well.
The preview also shows the natural habitat for the Grey Wolf to reside in. The area is rocky with a lot of greenery, with a space for the wolves to swim as well. The developers said that using the terrain tools, players will be able to create habitats easily to suit the needs of animals. You can use existing blueprints or individual items to make beautiful scenery. They place a dome-like structure in the trailer, and also some trees and rocks to go around it.
There are other animals teased in the preview that you can spot in the water, including the Puffer Fish, Aquatic Turtle, and the Butterfly Fish. We can also expect varieties of exotic birds to keep in our aviary sections. Planet Zoo 2 will have a multi-platform release on October 13, 2026.
