It’s hard to believe that Overwatch has as many heroes as it does, but the roster just keeps growing. With a total of ten new heroes coming this year, we’re in for a lot of hero reveal headlines – and it’s time for our first since the February Overwatch relaunch! Season 2 releases next week on April 14, and it comes with the newly revealed hero Sierra.
Blizzard released an animated hero trailer earlier today, and it’s packed full of small details that tell us quite a bit about what we can expect from Sierra’s character. Firstly, her allegiance is made clear right away, as she faces off against Talon agents Emre and Freja, making her clearly align with the heroic titular team of Overwatch.
She’s seen using an assault rifle for her main attacks while in combat with similarities to Sojourn and Soldier-76, with unique targeting abilities suggested by the moves she pulls during the fight. More significantly though, a key part of Sierra’s character appears to be her drone, with the pink flying device being used for both traversal across large gaps and seemingly also as part of her offensive arsenal too.

The animated trailer takes place at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, and narratively speaking pushes the advancements of Talon a little further forwards. Whatever mission Emre had in the area was completed, although Sierra is seen at the end of the trailer successfully tracking both him and Freja after their great escape.
We’re less than a week away from the next season of the revamped Overwatch, so we’ll have plenty more to report on soon from a first look at Sierra’s gameplay to new cosmetics and events. Be sure to check back often to GameObserver for more breaking gaming news and the latest Overwatch updates!
