Nintendo just posted their latest sales data for the last quarter, and it comes with some major sales milestone updates for both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2. Starting with the most significant story, the Nintendo Switch has now sold over 155 million units, making it the most successful Nintendo console of all time. It has finally managed to leapfrog the Nintendo DS, which sits at 154 million, and the only thing above it is Sony’s PlayStation 2 with 160 million units sold.
Along with these enormous console sales, the Switch also has reached a whopping 1.5 billion software sales. 70.59 million of these belong to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, whilst 49.32 million go to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are a total of nine Nintendo Switch exclusive titles that have sold over 20 million units, with other continuing to rise steadily. Interestingly, the top ten best-selling games on Switch are quite a diverse split between franchises: 4 Mario games, 2 Zelda games, 2 Pokémon games, with one Animal Crossing and one Smash Bros.
Switching things up, let’s take a look at the Switch 2 sales update. Nintendo’s latest console has now sold 17.37 million units, with 7 million of these being sold in the last quarter alone. Its exclusives are selling well, with Mario Kart World already at 14.03 million sales, Donkey Kong Bananza at 4.25 million units sold, and of course there’s Pokémon Legends: Z-A selling 3.89 million Switch 2 copies (not including Switch 2 upgrades or its 8.4 million Switch 1 sales).
