New Look At Zelda Movie’s Link And The Master Sword Revealed In Deleted Post

The upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has been mostly shrouded in secrecy. We had our first look at Benjamin Ainsworth’s Link and Bo Bragason’s Princess Zelda, but besides that we’ve only had small peeks at behind the scenes details such as filming clips and location leaks.

Now however, we’ve had something much more substantial revealed – what looks to be key concept art of Link! This gives us our first look of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield on Ainsworth’s Link, complete with both the iconic cap and cape. Formerly released images of Link only included him in standard green tunic clothing, without any of his more heroic accessories.

The image comes from The Legend of Zelda‘s director of photography Gyula Pados, who posted a special Instagram image collection to celebrate 9 months of filming and the conclusion of the process. Whilst the post went relatively unnoticed at first, an explosion of eyes on the pictures caused the post to now be deleted.

Zelda, Link and what appears to be a Kokiri with Navi in her hand were also included in the Instagram post.

A more mysterious image which doesn’t have much context behind it yet is the inclusion of a child’s sketch of the leading duo Link and Zelda, with what appears to be another member of the Kokiri. She’s holding Navi, whilst Link holds the Kokiri’s Emerald, the Spiritual Stone of the Forest from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

With all the revealed images so far, there seems to be three key Zelda influences on the movie: Ocarina of Time with Link’s portrayal, Navi and the Kokiri, Twilight Princess with the realistic heroic Link concept art, and Breath of the Wild with Zelda’s blue outfit. Perhaps, just like The Super Mario Movie series, The Legend of Zelda will combine elements from all of its franchise entries to create one grand story.

We’ll be sure to report on all things Zelda as the movie progresses through its production ahead of its slated May 7, 2027 release date. Check back oftn to GameObserver for all the latest gaming news, just like this!
