Today’s the day that Marathon fans have long-awaited, as it’s finally time for players around the world to test the game for themselves. The hype is real, as whilst it’s not even out yet, the game is already a best-seller over on Steam. The Marathon Server Slam event starts later today at 10 AM PT (check your timezone here) and runs through until March 2, so there’s a whole week available to try the game yourself for free, no pre-orders required.
The Server Slam will include a large slice of Marathon, but there will be much more when the game fully launches on March 5. In the trial, you’ll be able to infil two zones on Tau Ceti IV, along with taking on five different fanctions worth of early contracts, all while using five of the six launch Runner shells.
If you’re interested in checking out the Server Slam for yourself, there’ll be a bunch of rewards in the full game at launch waiting for you after you meet specific goals during this beta period. Let’s list them all!
For completing your first mission you’ll earn the Standard Arrival Cache, which includes:
- 6x Standard implants
- 4x Standard Runner shell cores
- 6x Standard weapon chip mods
- 2x Weapons: Overrun and Hardline
If you level up your Runner to Level 10 then you’ll earn the Enhanced Arrival Cache, which comes with:
- 6x Enhanced implants
- 12x Enhanced Runner shell cores
- 4x Enhanced weapon chip mods
- 2x Weapons: Enhanced Magnum and Enhanced Hardline
Finally there’s the maximum level rewards! Reach Runner Level 30 and you’ll earn the Deluxe Arrival Cache, which includes:
- 3x Deluxe implants
- 3x Enhanced implants
- 12x Deluxe and Enhanced Runner shell cores
- 2x Deluxe weapon chip mods
- 2x Enhanced weapon chip mods
- 2x Weapons: Deluxe Magnum and Enhanced Volley Rifle
- Backpack: Enhanced Base Backpack
That’s not all though. If you really want to earn as much as you can to stack yourself with loot when Marathon drops, then you might also want to get into the Twitch Drops. After linking your Bungie and Twitch accounts, watch any stream in the Marathon category for the designated time limit to earn the rewards, which are:
- Watch for 1 hour: Twitch Sponsored Kit loot and SMILEYworm Profile Emblem
- Watch for 2 hours: WEAVEworm Profile Background
- Watch for 3 hours: GLOWworm Weapon Sticker
- Watch for 4 hours: HMG Twitch Engine Weapon Skin
