Having fun with your cozy countryside life? During the June 2026 Wholesome Direct, Japanese Rural Life Adventure developer G-MODE announced that the game is getting a new update tied to the seasonal events. Completionists now have an extra incentive to take part in every easy-to-miss celebration, as clearing all seasonal events will unlock special decorative reward items.
The reward includes a decorative chozubachi, a traditional stone water basin, accompanied by an ishidoro stone lantern. Whether you’re building a tranquil garden or adding more pizzazz to your koi pond, these new ornaments definitely fit perfectly alongside other outdoor decorations.
Still, getting the fancy new stone decorations won’t be as simple as placing a few crops and cooking up some authentic Japanese dishes. True to the game’s name, seasonal celebrations are one of Japanese Rural Life Adventure‘s biggest progression systems. Featuring more than 20 special events, players are encouraged to find out and take part in traditional Japanese celebrations throughout the year. Starting with New Year’s shrine visits and first sunrise viewing, setsubun bean-throwing ceremonies, summer festivals and fireworks, and ending with ringing temple bells and eating soba noodles on New Year’s Eve.

As you might expect, many of these events only occur during specific dates, making them surprisingly easy to miss if you’re not paying attention to the calendar. So earning chozubachi will require some careful planning on top of farming, fishing, and befriending the villagers and those elusive cats. Thankfully, missing an event isn’t the end of the world, as seasonal festivities return the following year, giving you another chance to complete the Event Badges.
Japanese Rural Life Adventure was released on March 3 for PC via Steam and on March 5, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch. It debuted on iOS on September 15, 2023, as an Apple Arcade exclusive.
