Indie Developer Anoft Announces Loot List: Thief Sim

From independent developer Anoft, Loot List: Thief Sim is a physics-driven heist game where you will work your way from petty thief to master criminal, completing jobs by finding all the items on your loot list. The game’s Steam page is now live along with the first gameplay trailer.

The items on your list could be anything, “from gold bars to banana peels”, some of which might be sitting out on a counter, but others will be inside a safe, behind a locked door, or inside a glass case. There are multiple routes to achieving your objective depending on your preferred play style, from hunting down access codes and disarming security systems to barging in with a bomb and burning it all down.

Once a mission has been successfully completed by obtaining all the loot on the list, the items can be fenced for profit. This gives players funds for upgrades to their hideout and better equipment for more sophisticated heists. As players level up, they’ll go from roadside diners and back-alley deals to fortified banks and “a casino vault break-in involving sewer infiltration and advanced heist equipment inspired by classic crime films.”

Much of the gameplay shown in the trailer focused on co-op heists, which will be available for 2-4 players both online and LAN. Although vaguely alluded to in its co-op description: “Steal people blind with your buddies, or do the opposite,“ a PvP mode is explicitly listed on the Steam page as well. Will this be more of a competition to see who can steal the most from a singular list, or will it put one player or team in the Security Guard position? It’ll be interesting to find out.

On the game’s X account, they’ve announced Loot List: Thief Sim will be featured on the Latin American Games Showcase Summer Games Fest on June 4th. Loot List will be coming soon to Early Access on Steam, and interested players can sign up for playtesting opportunities now for “a chance to experience the chaos before anyone else.” For more showcase and indie game news, make sure to regularly check GameObserver!
