While many areas of Battlefield 6 were a return to form, some elements, such as map design, felt too compact for the gameplay expression that previous games in the series were known for. So, one of the main pieces of feedback from Battlefield 6 players has been the request for bigger and more dynamic maps. Season 4 is looking to fix that by bringing the biggest map yet for the game, and features that are close to the series’ core identity.
The highlight and theme of Season 4 is naval combat. The new map, Tsuru Reef, besides being the biggest map in the game, brings new immersive elements, such as a dynamic wave system and new vehicles to navigate them. New sea vehicles include the RCB-90 and the 7.7M NSW RHIB. Tsuru Reef also features several dynamic locations like a dormant volcano and a luxury resort inspired by the hotel in Battlefield 4’s Hainan Resort. All this content will arrive with the first batch of Season 4 title Pacific Front on July 21.
In addition to a new map, Season 4 will also bring the return of a classic, Wake Island. Being a staple level in each Battlefield game, this time Wake Island brings new elements such as a sunken ship in the middle for extra cover, and both teams’ HQ will be a carrier on either side of the island. Wake Island will arrive with the second batch of the season, titled Top Gun, on August 18.
Yes, meaning the Top Gun film series. This collaboration will include voice lines from some of the cast of Top Gun: Maverick. The update will also bring a new aerial mode and vehicles like the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat. Other features and elements that will release through Season 4 are new weapons, new quality-of-life improvements such as Spectator Mode and Custom Lobbies, and more.
