Soulframe Preludes Is Now Open To All PC Players

Digital Extremes, the studio behind Warframe, is officially opening its alpha for its next project, Soulframe. After over two years in an invite-only capacity, the Soulframe Preludes Alpha now welcomes all players on PC.

“The Soulframe Preludes community has played an essential role in getting us to a place where we can open up our new fantasy adventure to a wider audience of PC players,” said Geoff Crookes, Creative Director. “We’re now ready to really refine features like mounts, combat, and more to their optimal form as we continue to work towards a wider public launch. We’re committed to staying flexible and looking forward to what our team can accomplish alongside this incredible community as time goes on. Thank you for joining us!”

Soulframe takes things more slowly in its combat than Warframe, with a focus on melee and fantasy-elements combat.

In Soulframe, you take on the mantle of Envoy and set out on an adventure to free a soul-torn land of Alca from corruption. While Warframe has only a couple of open-world areas, with the main part of the game taking place in linear missions, Soulframe goes all-in on the open-world formula. Other elements that players can tackle now in the Open Preludes include:

  • Reconnect with nature by redeeming the corrupted Omen Beasts, rescuing captured wildlife, and raising an Omen Wolf mount companion.
  • Master the core Virtues to become an expert in combat, stealth, and magic techniques.
  • Collect and customize a wide variety of weapons and armor.
  • Forge Pacts with forgotten Ancestors and wield ancient abilities
  • Mix and match deliberate playstyles with friends in a Party of up to four players across a bustling overworld and dangerous dungeons.

Players can join the Preludes by signing up on the official Soulframe site here. As with Warframe, Digital Extremes continues its tradition of including all content the game adds for free, with the exception of some cosmetic items. If you are interested in supporting the development of the game while also getting some unique cosmetics, you can do that with a Founders Pack. Additionally, DE has promised that Soulframe won’t be getting any progression wipes in the future, making this more of an Early Access experience.
