With March, we celebrate Women’s History Month, and all the achievements large and small by all women in the service of scientific achievement, human rights, the arts, and so much more. While there is still a long way to go in terms of achieving the goal of full equality, there is still much to celebrate in women-led spaces, especially in the gaming space. There is certainly no shortage of fantastic gamers that identify as women, and that includes gamers, internet content creators, and, more specifically, streamers. While still a relatively new medium within the last decade, online streaming has become a popular hobby for some, and a full time job for others. Streamers cultivate online communities via the type of content they create, the games they play, and the brand they build.
As a female content creator myself, I know how much hard work, patience, and consistency goes into cultivating a space online, especially in a space that can be as volatile as the gaming community. There are many female creators that have defied the odds and established a long lasting presence through their friendly communities, hilarious shenanigans, and peak gaming. This list is only a small sample of some of the great women out there making content. So, in no particular order, here are some great streamers you should check out as we celebrate women this month!
Neenali
From sweaty Hollow Knight: Silksong gameplay to lazy Pokémon hunting and chatting, streamer Neenali has a little something for everyone. Neenali, affectionately referred to as “Neens” by her community, is a bubbly, hilarious variety streamer who provides late night entertainment for the night owls of the internet. She is funny, big hearted, and a force of chaotic good that will endear anyone to her channel immediately. With Neens, the vibes are immaculate, and there’s no better way to spend the late night hours than with a wholesome and kind streamer with the gift of making you feel like you’ve always been there.

BionicBani
BionicBani, or Bani for short, is a V-Tuber with a community of gold and an energy like a warm hug. With a sterling track record in content creation and even experience teaching the art of effective content creation, Bani is a wealth of knowledge to boot. She tends to play shooters or other competitive games, but you can also catch her playing some horror games if you’re looking to have the pants scared off of you. Bani’s space is warm, welcoming, and full of fun, and is definitely worth checking out.

MangoTron58
Do you like Disney things? Do you like scary games? Do you like girls with rainbow hair? Then MangoTron58 needs to be at the top of your watch list. Mango is a variety streamer, but you can mostly find her playing competitive games like Dead by Daylight or Arc Raiders during the week, and then more narrative based games on the weekends, such as Dispatch. She also plays a monthly Dungeons & Dragons campaign live on stream, and collaborates with a number of other streamers to provide a wide variety of different games and content to watch. Mango is a bubbly, charismatic streamer with lots of love to give and who boasts one of the most welcoming and wholesome communities you’ll find. Oh, and did we mention she can sing?

Lexy
There are casual Baldur’s Gate 3 players, there are hardcore Baldur’s Gate 3 players, and then a secret third tier, and that tier is Lexy. Before Larian’s epic Dungeons & Dragons RPG, Lexy predominantly streamed Dead by Daylight, but transitioned to Baldur’s Gate 3 almost exclusively following a number of successful videos that went viral, and continue to do so. Lexy is hilariously funny, charismatic, engaging, and provides honesty and vulnerability surrounding her struggles with chronic illness. These days you can find her still doing the occasional solo honor run in Baldur’s Gate 3 (the game’s hardest difficulty mode) while also branching out into other fantasy and horror RPGs. Lexy is a staple of our morning routine, and she will no doubt bring laughter and whimsy to yours as well.

HerbsRealm
If you like food, plants, chaos, and witchy vibes, there is no better streamer than HerbsRealm. Herb, better known as Erica, is a foodie and journalist by day, and a chaotic gamer girl by night. Her streams predominantly feature narrative or puzzle based games such as Outer Wilds, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and currently, 2018’s God of War. On Fridays, she hosts a weekly “Date Night,” where she plays co-op games with her community that include Peak, YapYap, or RV There Yet? Sometimes you’re even treated to a Just Chatting stream, which are always engaging and informative, covering food, travel, writing, and so much more. Herb is not only a wealth of knowledge, she’s a bright spot on the internet where it is often dark and toxic. An HerbsRealm stream is a whimsical adventure, a safe space, and a healthy dash of hilarity, and you’d do well to pop over for the vibes.

WatchHollie
There are many, many ways which we could describe WatchHollie, but there’s probably no better description than her own: “Caps-lock incarnate.” Hollie has been a longtime fixture in the streaming space, sharing her experiences as a lesbian content creator, advocating for physical and mental health, and providing a safe space for all in her streams. One of the best things about Hollie is that the moment you join her stream for the first time, she will make you feel like you’ve been friends forever. She mostly streams horror games, FromSoft games, or other Soulslikes, like Sekiro, Lies of P, and Elden Ring. However she does also throw in the occasional RPG, and is currently playing through Jedi: Fallen Order which has been a ride. There is no safer or more friendly space on the internet than Hollie’s, just make sure you never try to call her a “Just Chatting” streamer (she’s definitely not).

SpinKittea
Not all of the streamers on this list are hardcore gamers. Some of them, like the talented and illustrious SpinKittea (or Spin for short), stream a whole different kind of content creation. Spin is a wearer of many hats; a former fire dancer, current art model, tea connoisseur, and gifted artist, just to name a few. Spin mostly streams watercolor painting while providing a safe space for conversation and lurking. Her voice is soothing, like a cup of hot tea on a rainy day. If you’re looking for tea recommendations or some pointers on painting or digital art, there’s no better streamer than Spin. And while art is her dominant mode of content creation, you can still find Spin streaming the occasional RPG or roguelike. Spin is a prime example of what it means to be a safe space and true mental health advocate online, and is absolutely a perfect place to hang your hat on a weeknight if you want some cozy vibes.

Elliejoypanic
There are few more delightful streamers on the internet than Ellie, a former game dev who now streams full time and aims to create a space that does the most good. Ellie streams tons of Fromsoft and other Soulslike games, while also throwing in the occasional wholesome indie title or chaotic CrowdControl session, allowing her community to hijack her game sessions with mods while she tries to complete certain goals. And all of this is done in support of the various fundraisers that Ellie and her community support throughout the year, including animal rescues, women’s health organizations, and organizations supporting pediatric medical care. In total, her community has raised tens of thousands of dollars for these causes. To boot, Ellie runs a stream team called Cosmic Hearts, which aims to bring together streamers of all kinds to share in the commitment to the greater good, fundraising for countless more organizations across the world. So take an afternoon during the week and stop by Ellie’s stream and see what causes the community is supporting! There’s always much to learn and Ellie is one of the best teachers.

Slaylani21
Many of the ladies in this list are known for their tendency to play a variety of games. Slaylani, or Slay for short, is a pretty locked in streamer who plays predominantly Halo and Dead by Daylight. As a streamer who ventures more into the competitive space, you’d expect a more intense energy. But Slay is one of the most chill and laid back streamers you could find. With her Aloha vibes and peak gameplay, you’re sure to find something you like on Slay’s channel. Slay is a girl’s girl, and there’s no one better suited to cover your six in a slayer match on Halo. In addition to silencing misogynists in competitive matches, Slay is a dedicated member of the medical field and also a mom to an adorable little girl the community has lovingly dubbed “Baby Slay.” It’s encouraging and empowering to see highly capable moms making a name for themselves online, and embracing their identity loudly. That is Slay, coded.

TayXO
We round out this list with TayXO, the fun, energetic, and hilariously talented DJ that blesses our eardrums on the weekends. Tay runs the “feelsy beats” mostly in the evenings and on weekends, providing a space to dance it out, or even just vibe quietly in the background while doing other things. Tay is the kind of streamer that all women should aspire to be. Her confidence, compassion, balanced with her refusal to be compromised by trolls, make her one of the best role models for up and coming streamers. Trolls, misogynists, and bullies beware; Tay can smell you from a mile away and can eviscerate you without breaking a sweat. And then the beats continue, and the space remains immune to any and all negative energy. This is the kind of person Tay is. A harbinger of death for bullies, and a friend to the rest of us. On Tay’s streams you will always feel entertained, so waste no time in getting your butt over there the next time she goes live!

Women’s History Month is an important time for all of us to pause and reflect on the contributions and sacrifices of women in the effort to create an equal playing field for human rights, jobs, and the arts, among so many other things.
