Waterful, which had its world premiere announcement at The Wholesome Direct, is a game about bringing water to various isolated valleys and what all that brings along with it. In this nature-building puzzle game, you are given an area with a dry area, and it’s your job to spread water around and make life flourish. You start with a tiny wellspring of water and must construct streams and rivers by both digging out and filling in the land to guide water where it needs to go and in the right amounts.

Completing various tiny quests opens up additional springs and tools to help bring life back to even more of the several areas. Do well enough building up the habitat and you’ll attract animals. The better you build your habitat, the more animals will appear that can be added to your scrapbook. Some of the animals included a fennec fox, a bee eater bird, a dice snake, bees, butterflies, and a wildcat. The game has shown multiple biomes already, with a desert, a sun-parched valley, and a frigid scrubland were all some of the places shown off in the reveal trailer, and each area is sure to have its own challenges to complete and its own selection of animals to attract.
The developers say the game is designed for both relaxed and completionist playstyles, so players can choose to tackle every possible challenge to unlock all the tools and max out every biome to see every animal and max out every terrain, or just relax and create their perfect lazy river or cozy oasis and watch it thrive.

Waterful has thus far only announced it will be released on Steam. No release date has been announced either, but it can be wishlisted via the game’s Steam Page already. For more indie game news, stay tuned to GameObserver!
