Marathon Launches March 5, Announced Following Xbox Leak

Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter Marathon is coming very soon, and it was revealed a little too early thanks to to an official trailer that was accidentally posted on Xbox’s Community page last night. Whilst it has since been removed, the date was correct all along! Marathon will officially be launching on March 5, and you can watch the full pre-order trailer for yourself right now.

Originally, Marathon was scheduled to launch in September of 2025, but April’s closed alpha test feedback combined with a plagiarism controversy in May of the same year resulted in the June announcement of a delay to an unspecified date in future. From there, a Sony report scheduled a release date within their financial year – which made March 31 of this year the deadline. This new release date for Marathon puts it right in line with Sony’s schedule, and adds to the already stacked early 2026 gaming line-up.

Marathon is finally upon us, and it’s coming very soon.

Bungie has a lot invested in Marathon. With over five years in development and more than 300 developers on the team, it’s a major investment from the company behind Destiny, and it has the added pressure of being their first new release since being purchased by Sony in 2022. It’s also bringing back a classic franchise, with the last Marathon game Marathon Infinity being 30 years old as of this year. The weight of expectation is a heavy one, and it’s pushing on Bungie from all angles.

We’re less than two months away from the launch of Marathon on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on March 5. Are you looking forward to the launch?
