A new game is climbing into the scene called Ladder Lad by BUCK Games and BUCK. BUCK is a global creative company that has worked with Nike, Apple, Netflix, IBM, Airbnb, and Sony. This collaborative-effort game is an all-ladder 2D platformer coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2027.
It’s time to get creative and start climbing to the top in this new, upcoming game. The titular Ladder Lad lives in a world that has forgotten how to jump, and can only use a ladder to move vertically. Thinking outside the box is key in this game, as players need to use the ladder in various ways to reach the top of the tower.
Players can use their ladder to traverse the landscape by using it as a pole vault, a bridge, a pogo stick, and more. Using the ladder with a tilting control scheme, players have to dodge the world’s never-ending obstacles, such as projectiles, toxic gas clouds, and enemies along the way. Not only are there a multitude of different obstacles, but there are also augments along the way that can transform your ladder and help you reach the very top, such as a hot air balloon attachment.
Players will also come across a variety of different characters along their climb, ranging from ancient frogs to huge Rungmasters. The gameplay ranges from 8-15 hours based on pacing. On top of the exciting gameplay, Antfood has created the score for this game, making it their third collaboration with BUCK Games.
