Bethesda Announces New Fallout And Elder Scrolls Plans

On July 17, Bethesda announced big plans regarding the Fallout series and what’s to come. This follows a large update at Xbox, where jobs and studios are being cut and redirected. Fallout has been and continues to be a trending name, especially after the Fallout series, with Season 2 releasing late 2025 through early 2026.

All Fallout fans have received great news today, as Bethesda notes that “Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today.” In the same post, Bethesda notes that Fallout 5 is their long-term goal, currently in pre-production, and that they are currently working on multiple Fallout projects. New updates are coming to Fallout 76, including a large expansion called Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3, which is set for release in 2027. Fallout 5 will be a collaborative project with Xbox sister studio, Obsidian Entertainment.

These are far from the only updates the Fallout games are getting, though. Both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas will be receiving remasters. No dates for these have been released yet. Fallout Shelter currently has more than 250 million players, and there will be new seasons coming to the game, as well as an unscripted Fallout Shelter television project being created with Amazon and Kilter Films.

Fallout Shelter will be receiving upcoming season updates, as well as a television adaptation.

Speaking of Amazon and Kilter Films, Fallout Season 2 received 10 Emmy nominations, and now, Season 3 is in production. Bethesda will not be hosting a traditional Fallout Day broadcast; however, a special event and live celebration for Fallout’s 30th anniversary is planned for next year in Washington, D.C.

Director of Fallout, Todd Howard, is looking forward to the collaboration with Obsidian again, and he feels that this is the perfect time to do so. Howard also mentioned, “We do realize we need to find a way to say a bit more so that our fans understand what we’re doing and why,” in response to Fallout fans being excited about upcoming projects without knowing specific dates.

While Fallout was the one to receive more news today, in the blog post, Bethesda also confirms that Starfield will continue to receive updates, and The Elder Scrolls series is also a main focus. The team from Elder Scrolls Online will now be working more closely with Bethesda, and The Elder Scrolls 6 project continues to be the studio’s main project. Bethesda is also currently facing heat from employees after cutting staff numbers despite Xbox’s focus on Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, with many protests across Bethesda’s offices this week.
