EA just announced that 2025’s best-selling shooter Battlefield 6 will be free to try next week between March 17 to 24. During this free trial period, new players will have access to select parts of Battlefield 6 included with their download of Battlefield REDSEC. Some parts will be unavailable though and remain exclusive to the paid title, such as the Campaign mode and some Battlefield 6 game modes. The move comes after the publisher made headlines earlier this week for laying off an unspecified number of employees who worked on the record-breaking game.
In the free trial period, new players will have access to three playlists of maps and modes. The first is the Nightfall playlist, which features darkened maps with an essential use of night vision goggles and weapon attachments that provide extra visibility. Nightfall will include the Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch and Domination game modes. This playlist will take place on the new Hagental Base map, a close-quarters underground map with low visibility and tight spaces, making for intense fights.
The second available playlist will be All-Out Warfare, which includes Conquest, Breakthrough and Escalation. These are the bigger-scale modes that build on Battlefield‘s history of immersive warfare creation through huge maps, scouting vantage points, frontline battles and vehicular combat. There will be four playable maps in this playlist: Contaminated, Hagental Base, Eastwood and Mirak Valley.
Finally, the Casual Breakthrough playlist is a more laidback experience, for those wanting to try out Battlefield 6 with a little less pressure. These modes have increased bot counts alongside real players, to curate a more relaxed space for greater ability to experiment. It’s okay if you miss your shots with an unfamiliar weapon in this mode, the bots won’t be able to troll you! You’ll also be able to learn the layout of the three included maps, Hagental Base, Contaminated and Eastwood, with less chance of being deleted by a 1000-hour professional.
